Molly Norris is the Seattle cartoonist that instigated “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day.” Now an Islamic terrorist group has put a hit out Norris. Norris conceived “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day” as a Facebook-fueled protest for free speech in response to Comedy Central censorship of a South Park episode that threatened to depict the prophet Muhammad. This event got to large and out of control that numerous Muslim’s took it as personal hatred towards their individuals. Norris tried to offer a sincere apology stating that here intentions are not to offend the whole group, but it made no difference to the terrorist group that still wants her life.
Norris is marked for death by the orders of Anwar al-Awlaki
Regardless of your own religious beliefs, Muslim law give authorization and encouragement for anybody to be murdered who depicts the Prophet Mohammad in a drawing of any sort. It is strictly against Islamic law to draw Mohammad. By creating the, Everybody Draw Muhammad Day, terrorist leader Anwar al-Awlaki, made it his personal goal to see to it Norris is slaughtered. Anwar al-Awlaki is known as being behind the Fort Hood, Texas massacre, and an additional plot by some New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers according to the New York Daily News In an Al Qaeda magazine, Inspire, Anwar al-Awlaki was quoted as calling her a “prime target” whose “proper adobe is hellfire.” Muslim terrorists are a very severe threat according to the FBI, and they have made Norris aware of the publications and threats about her.
Those marked for death by al-Awlaki should take caution
Molly Norris called the event off in May and apologized to Muslims. She said the “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day” had spun out of control and become offensive. AOL News reports that despite the apology, al-Awlaki’s call for her murder on an Islamic terrorist site created to recruit American Muslims for jihad is not likely to be an idle threat. Kurt Westergaard, a Danish cartoonist, is also on the list of people marked for death by depicting the Prophet Mohammad. Westergaard and his granddaughter were forced to take shelter in his homes panic room this past February, when a man recruited to be a Jihad tried to kill him with an axe for his depictions.
Molly Norris is in hiding because of the threat on her life
As “Everybody Draw Muhammad” spun out of control, Norris posted a YouTube video in which she explained the cartoon she drew that launched the event. She tried calling off the event, saying the context of it was twisted and obscured. Yet her pleas got her nowhere, and so did her own true feelings. She followed up her video with yet an additional cartoon about the, Diet of Fear, joking about how if you make the Muslims made you’ll be scared to eat.
Since al-Awlaki’s call for her assassination, Norris’s Facebook account has been taken down and also the content from her personal page, MollyNorris.com, is no longer viewable. In addition she also took down her YouTube video that explained the cartoon and idea behind the day.
